XAUUSD Pip Calculator
Use this free XAUUSD Pip Calculator to calculate the number of Gold pips between two prices, estimate XAUUSD pip value from your lot size, or convert a known pip distance into a Gold price move and estimated dollar value.
Calculate XAUUSD Pips and Pip Value
Choose how you want to calculate. Use Price → Pips when you have two Gold prices, or choose Pips → Value when you already know the pip distance.
Gold Price Difference → XAUUSD Pips
Enter two XAUUSD prices and your lot size. The calculator measures the absolute distance between the prices and estimates the monetary value of that move.
Estimate assumes 1 pip = $0.01 and 1.00 standard lot = 100 oz. Spread, commission, slippage, swaps, and other trading costs are not included.
XAUUSD Pips → Price Move & Dollar Value
Already know the pip distance? Enter the number of XAUUSD pips and your lot size to calculate the equivalent Gold price move, estimated value per pip, and estimated total value.
Estimate assumes 1 pip = $0.01 and 1.00 standard lot = 100 oz. Trading costs are not included.
XAUUSD Pip Calculator Guide: Gold Pips and Pip Value
Use the XAUUSD Pip Calculator above to calculate the pip distance between two Gold prices or convert a known XAUUSD pip distance into a price move and estimated dollar value. This Gold pip calculator uses a consistent convention of 1 pip = $0.01 and 1.00 standard lot = 100 troy ounces.

How to Use the XAUUSD Pip Calculator
The calculator has two modes. Choose the mode that matches the information you already have.
1 Price → Pips
Enter two XAUUSD prices to measure the Gold price difference and pip distance. The calculator also uses the lot-size field to estimate the value per pip and the dollar value of the full move. A 0.01 lot size is prefilled and can be changed before calculating.
2 Pips → Value
Enter a known number of XAUUSD pips and your lot size to convert the pip distance into a Gold price move, estimated value per pip, and estimated value of the movement.
3 Check the assumptions
Results use 1 pip = $0.01 and 1.00 standard lot = 100 troy ounces. If your broker uses a different contract size or pip, point or tick terminology, use your broker's XAUUSD specification as the final reference.
Gold pip basics
What Is a Pip in XAUUSD?
XAUUSD is Gold quoted against the US dollar. For every calculation on this page, one XAUUSD pip is defined as a $0.01 change in the Gold price. A move from 4350.00 to 4350.01 is therefore 1 pip, while a move from 4350.00 to 4351.00 is 100 pips.
XAUUSD Pips = |Second Price − First Price| ÷ 0.01
Pip distance only measures how far price moved. It does not by itself show whether a trade made or lost money. Trade direction, position size, spread, commissions, slippage, financing and other costs can affect the actual trading result.
Manual calculation
XAUSD PIP Calculation
Using this page's $0.01 pip convention, subtract the two XAUUSD prices, take the absolute price difference, and divide that movement by 0.01.
1 Find the price difference
Subtract one Gold price from the other. These can be an entry and exit, entry and target, entry and stop, or any two XAUUSD levels.
2 Use the absolute distance
If you only want the pip distance, use the positive difference whether Gold moved higher or lower.
3 Divide by $0.01
Because this calculator defines a $0.01 XAUUSD price change as one pip, dividing the price movement by 0.01 gives the pip count.
|4355.00 − 4350.00| ÷ 0.01 = 500 pips
Pip value formula
How to Calculate XAUUSD Pip Value by Lot Size
Pip distance tells you how far Gold moved. Pip value tells you the estimated dollar value of one pip for a particular position size under the calculator's assumptions.
This calculator assumes 1.00 XAUUSD lot = 100 troy ounces. With a $0.01 pip size, the USD pip-value formula is:
Pip Value = Lot Size × 100 oz × $0.01
Pip Value in USD = Lot Size × $1.00
Under these assumptions, 1.00 lot is $1.00 per pip, 0.10 lot is $0.10 per pip, and 0.01 lot is $0.01 per pip. These are movement values before trading costs and are not the same as net profit or loss.
If your goal is to choose a position size from a fixed account risk, use the Gold Lot Size Calculator instead.
Quick reference
XAUUSD Pip Value Table by Lot Size
| Lot Size | Gold Exposure* | Value of 1 Pip | Value of 100 Pips | Value of 1,000 Pips |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.01 lot | 1 oz | $0.01 | $1.00 | $10.00 |
| 0.10 lot | 10 oz | $0.10 | $10.00 | $100.00 |
| 0.50 lot | 50 oz | $0.50 | $50.00 | $500.00 |
| 1.00 lot | 100 oz | $1.00 | $100.00 | $1,000.00 |

Worked examples
XAUUSD Pip Calculator Examples
These examples use the same $0.01 pip size and 100-ounce standard-lot assumption as the calculator above.
Example 1: $1.00 Gold move
First price: 4350.00
Second price: 4351.00
Price difference: $1.00
Pip distance: $1.00 ÷ $0.01 = 100 pips
Example 2: $6.45 Gold move
First price: 4421.20
Second price: 4427.65
Price difference: $6.45
Pip distance: $6.45 ÷ $0.01 = 645 pips
Example 3: 500 pips at 0.10 lot
Pip distance: 500 pips
Gold price move: $5.00
Pip value: $0.10 per pip
Estimated movement value: $50
Important accuracy note
Do All Brokers Define XAUUSD Pips the Same Way?
No. Gold pip terminology is not standardized across every broker and platform. Some broker material treats a $0.01 XAUUSD move as one pip, while other brokers use a larger price movement or use the words pip, point and tick differently.
To keep every result consistent, this calculator uses one fixed rule: 1 pip = $0.01, together with a 100-troy-ounce standard lot. Before applying a result to a live position, compare those assumptions with the contract size, minimum price increment, tick value and terminology shown for XAUUSD by your broker.

Common questions
XAUUSD Pip Calculator FAQ
What does an XAUUSD Pip Calculator calculate?
It converts the distance between two Gold prices into XAUUSD pips or converts a known pip distance into a Gold price move. With a lot size, this calculator also estimates value per pip and the dollar value of the movement under its stated assumptions.
How many XAUUSD pips are in a $1 Gold move?
Using this page's convention, a $1.00 XAUUSD price movement equals 100 pips because $1.00 ÷ $0.01 = 100.
What is the XAUUSD pip value for 0.01 lot?
With a 100-ounce standard lot and a $0.01 pip size, 0.01 lot represents 1 troy ounce of Gold and has an estimated value of $0.01 per pip.
What is the XAUUSD pip value for 0.10 lot?
Under the calculator's assumptions, 0.10 lot represents 10 troy ounces of Gold and has an estimated value of $0.10 per pip.
Why does the Price → Pips calculator ask for a lot size?
Pip distance itself is calculated from the two XAUUSD prices, but this calculator also returns estimated value per pip and movement value. For that reason, its Price → Pips mode uses a positive lot size as part of the calculation, with 0.01 lot prefilled by default.
Does this XAUUSD Pip Calculator calculate profit or loss?
Not as a full trade P&L calculation. It measures price distance and estimates the value of that movement. Actual profit or loss also depends on trade direction and can be affected by spread, commissions, slippage, financing, account-currency conversion and broker contract specifications.
Is one XAUUSD pip always $0.01?
No. Broker terminology can differ. This calculator deliberately defines one pip as a $0.01 XAUUSD price movement so every result follows one consistent method. Compare that convention with your broker's XAUUSD specification before using the result for a trade.
